The Simpson County Archives and Museum is located in the old jail and jailer’s residence and is the repository of old circuit court and county court documents, tax records, marriage records, wills, and deeds. With the addition of the Simpson County History Center across the street,extensive family history files and genealogical collections for Simpson, Allen, Logan, and Warren Counties in Kentucky and Robertson and Sumner Counties in Tennessee are also maintained in these facilities. Many old scrapbooks,collections, family Bibles, assorted manuscripts,census records, funeral home records, local paper on microfilm, maps, picture files, obituary files,local history files, and memorabilia, as well as a spacious museum and an extensive genealogical library are available. Tours are conducted by the staff of the Simpson County Historical Society who maintain these facilities. Ancestry.com, newspapers.com, and fold3.com are also available at no charge.
